Chong Xin Yi (Liesel)

Senior Lawyer

Chong Xin Yi (Liesel) graduated from Singapore Management University in 2013 and admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2014.

Liesel has extensive experience in criminal defence. Her ability to establish an excellent rapport with her clients gives her the ability to handle any problem in a thorough, conscientious manner.

She is quick and sensitive to appreciate clients’ concerns and priorities. It is her priority to provide efficient and practical solutions and representation for the criminal justice process in Singapore, journeying with and guiding clients through what can be an otherwise bewildering process.

Experience

Liesel has been practising criminal law for nine years. She represents and advises clients at the POHA Court, Magistrates’ Court, Youth Court, State Courts and the High Court of Singapore.

Liesel can quickly deal with the crux of the matter, she is also thorough, and keeps the big long term picture in mind.

Approach

While Liesel can quickly deal with the crux of the matter, she is also thorough and keeps the big long-term picture in mind.

She is careful to examine the elements of each offence and to provide sound and realistic advice on how each case should be handled (whether charges may be challenged; exploring possibilities for a swift closure of prosecution; actions to take for effective mitigation) – there is no one size fits all, and every detail is important.
